Updates To Tamper Resistant Prescription Pads

May 11, 2018

In accordance with the Prescription Monitoring Program Act, prescribers and dispensers administering or dispensing a monitored drug must view a patient’s medication profile prior to prescribing.

Tamper Resistant Prescription Pads (TRPP) have been updated to include a check box allowing the health provider to verify that the provincial electronic health record, HEALTHe NL, was reviewed and the time of day the review occurred.

Pharmacies will no longer accept prescriptions on the older pads after the June 30, 2018 effective date for the Prescription Monitoring Program – NL.

For more information on the new TRPP, please see the Advanced Practice Resources page.

For more information on HEALTHe NL or to request an account, please contact Raleen Murphy at raleen.murphy@nlchi.nl.ca or (709) 752-6107.
