Change in NP Scope of Practice - Prescribing Suboxone and Methadone

October 23, 2017

On October 20th, 2017, ARNNL Council approved a change in the scope of NP practice and designated Buprenorphine-Naloxone (Suboxone) and Methadone as drugs NPs, who meet the specified practice and education requirements, may prescribe for the treatment of opioid dependence or pain management as deemed appropriate for the specific client. NPs must complete ALL of the identified education and practice requirements to prescribe Buprenorphine-Naloxone (Suboxone) and Methadone. The education and practice requirements are outlined here.

ARNNL will be hosting a teleconference for NPs on Thursday, October 26th at 12:30-1:30 (island time) to discuss the practice and education requirements. Teleconference details were emailed to NPs.
